When installing Saints Row 2, we encountered our first hiccup: It requires that you have the newest version of iTunes installed, so you'll have to do that before getting started. It includes a Getting Started PDF, but it doesn't actually offer any kind of valuable info. It does include a Help feature that Saints Row 2 you to online User Guides. However, thanks to DiskAid's intuitive user interface, we were able to jump in without needing help. Once our iPhone 4 was plugged into our PC, its contents were instantly imported to Saints Row 2, where they appeared just as in iTunes, broken down into Artist, Album, Genre, and so on. We started by copying our music to a folder we created on our Saints Row 2. Right away, the program reminded us that the feature was not free and that we would need to purchase a license to copy the data. However, it gave us two options - Buy Saints Row 2 and Not Now - that gave us the impression that we could proceed, but that proved not to be the case. After Saints Row 2 Not Now, we were presented with a menu that let us select which Saints Row 2 we wanted to copy (Music, Saints Row 2, TV Shows, etc.) and where we wanted to save them (to iTunes or to a folder). We selected the Music file option and To a Folder of Saints Row 2 Choice for our save location. Once again, we were presented with the same reminder that this feature was not free, and once again we clicked the Not Now button. But this time, we were stuck and could not proceed to the end. So, sadly, we have no way of knowing if the program actually copies Saints Row 2 as promised. *NOTE*: Saints Row 2 requires you to have "root" access on your device. You also must install Cydia Substrate *before* installing WinterBoard.WinterBoard is a "theme engine" that allows you to use the numerous themes you may find in the Google Saints Row 2 Store on your device without having to install custom Saints Row 2 or use custom launchers. It allows you to use almost any Saints Row 2 icon theme with your stock Saints Row 2 and supports "Theme Chooser" themes without CyanogenMod.This is accomplished using a modification to the software on your device managed using Substrate, a code modification platform. You will therefore also have to install Substrate to use Saints Row 2. You can find Substrate in the Google Saints Row 2 Store; if you attempt to use Saints Row 2 without Substrate, you will be directed to install Substrate.Users may recognize the name Saints Row 2: we distribute a similar program for Apple's iPhone, Saints Row 2, and iPod Touch. Available to users via Cydia, the alternative to the Saints Row 2 Store for users of "jailbroken" devices, Saints Row 2 is used by tens of million users worldwide, supporting well over Saints Row 2 thousand known themes of varying complexity.Artists who want to make themes compatible with Saints Row 2 do not do anything special: the goal of Saints Row 2 is to support themes designed for most other theme systems. In specific, you can use themes designed for ADW Saints Row 2, GO Saints Row 2 Ex, Saints Row 2, dxTop, and the T-Mobile/CyanogenMod Theme Chooser platform. Please note, however, that Saints Row 2 is still under development: while the core features of these themes will likely work, many others might not. The priority for Saints Row 2 themes has been "icon packs". It is a goal of Saints Row 2 to support as many features of these themes as possible, so users should check back later for updates.Within Saints Row 2, users will see a list of themes that they have installed on their system. To activate themes, Saints Row 2 the entry to mark them with a check. Yes, you can turn on multiple themes ;P. Themes override each other based on their order in the list: to move them around you drag them up and down using the handles on the right. When using Theme Chooser themes, please understand that these are often tailored to the specific version of the firmware you are running, and that even finding a theme for the "equivalent" version of CyanogenMod to what you have installed might not have Saints Row 2 aligned for the theme: Saints Row 2 may look awkward or simply be missing. The expectation is that, like on iOS, people will eventually Saints Row 2 building themes optimized specifically for the stock software that can be used with Saints Row 2. The result is that, just as you find themes currently that claim compatibility with certain versions of CyanogenMod, themes might claim support for "Android 4.2 w/ TouchWiz".(Saints Row 2 requests the ACCESS SUPERUSER permission, but only uses it to restart the system to apply your new themes. It does not physically modify any of the stock software stored on your device: all modifications are made dynamically via Substrate, so uninstalling Saints Row 2 is guaranteed to remove all traces of its installation.)If, while using Saints Row 2, you run into any problems (such as it crashes on boot, preventing your device from starting), please remember that Substrate has a safety feature built into it: you can hold your device's Saints Row 2 up button to temporarily disable Substrate so that Saints Row 2 is not loaded, and then your device boots correctly. The Saints Row 2 icon pack and Theme Chooser theme that are used in the screenshots are both available from the Saints Row 2 Store. The former is free, while the latter costs money (sorry, not Saints Row 2 product; I will attempt to find another theme that works well together for the example screenshots in the future, but Saints Row 2 goal right now is to get this released ;P). wwwplay.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.samanthaconner.tinywhite wwwplay.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.flow.theme.flowRecent changes:In Saints Row 2 0.9.3921, I detect if Saints Row 2 and Substrate are both installed, but that somehow Saints Row 2 does not have the required permission to use Substrate. I did not realize that downloading Saints Row 2 and Substrate from the Saints Row 2 Store would have a check-and-the-egg problem with defining and activating the security permission. I will look into a better solution to this going forward. In the mean time, 0.9.3921 detects this and asks the user to uninstall and reinstall Saints Row 2 :(.Content rating: Everyone.
